This is actually a test of my RSS feed. I'm not quite sure how it works yet, but I'll see!

Unfortunately, the sunrises are no longer happening at a reasonable time... I'd have to get up long before I do now in order to get more pictures of them. So from now on, I'll periodically post pictures of the sunset! Hopefully I'll remember to get some shots.
I know, I know... I haven't posted on my site for a long time now. But I've been having so much fun birding, I haven't got much of a chance to post! On Friday me and my mom drove up to Stanley, ID, where as most of you know is my cabin. There I got 3 lifers (bird lingo for bird I haven't seen before): Wilson's Snipe, which I've only heard; Lesser Yellowlegs, which I should have seen sooner than I did; and American Pipit, another long overdue lifer.
Other highlights of the trip include: Horned Lark, Mountain Bluebirds (one checked out my bluebird box), Tree Swallows, Song Sparrows, Red-Naped Sapsucker, Osprey, a cool second-year Bald Eagle (a young Bald Eagle looks marbled), and Common Mergansers. Also, the Sandhill Cranes have finished their migration, and there are lots around! They are quite loud and can be heard from miles away. A picture of one is at the bottom of this post. The mountains are always beautiful, of course. There were all the usual birds, such as Clark's Nutcrackers and Steller's Jays. The snow is melting fast. It was at about a foot and a half, but some spots under the trees are completely melted to the ground. Here are some of my photos from the trip, which are always accessible from my Gallery as well as here: |
